Cardiac Procedures

Sometimes our consultants might require tests involving the insertion of a catheter, or a probe, to reach their diagnosis. CVS Health offers a full range of invasive cardiology procedures and support a wide range of specialist services such as: Angiogram, PCI stents, pacemaker fittings and cardioversion. You can access prompt care in a number of ways. If you are not covered by medical insurance, you can choose to pay for your own treatment. We have a fixed price guarantee for your care and can even provide finance if necessary.

Implantable Loop Recorders

Implantable Loop Recorders

An implantable loop recorder, or ILR, is a small device that records the electrical activity of your heart.

Electrophysiological (EP) Studies

Electrophysiological (EP) Studies

Electrophysiological (EP) studies allow your doctor to look at your heart’s electrical activity in great detail.
This test has revolutionised the way we understand, and treat, fast or abnormal heart rhythms.
Sometimes your doctor will also carry out a catheter ablation – a treatment that can help control or correct an abnormal heart rhythm – during this procedure.

Cardioversion

Cardioversion

If you have an abnormal heart rhythm, such as, Atrial Fibrillation, your doctor may want you to have a treatment called Cardioversion.
This treatment aims to get your abnormal heart rhythm back to normal.

Pacemaker

Pacemaker

A pacemaker is a small electrical device which is used to treat some abnormal heart rhythms that can cause your heart to beat too slowly or miss beats. Some pacemakers can also help the chambers of your heart beat in time.

Coronary Angiogram

Coronary Angiogram

An Angiogram allows your doctor to look inside your coronary arteries and find out where and how severe any narrowed areas are.
It’s also known as a coronary Angiogram or a Cardiac Catheterisation.
The procedure helps your doctor decide what treatment you might need. It can also give information about how effectively your heart is pumping and about the blood pressure inside your heart.
An Angiogram can also be helpful for investigating other conditions, such as, congenital heart disease.

Coronary Angioplasty

Coronary Angioplasty

Coronary Angioplasty – or PCI and PTCA – is a procedure that helps treat coronary heart disease and angina.
Your coronary arteries play a vital role in keeping your heart healthy. But, in some people, the coronary arteries can become narrowed or blocked because fatty deposits, called Atheroma, have built up within the artery walls.
Coronary angioplasty helps improve the blood supply to your heart muscle by widening narrowed coronary arteries and allowing blood to flow through again.
Angioplasty can help to relieve angina symptoms and is also used as an emergency treatment for people who have had a heart attack.

Ablations

Ablations

Ablation, also known as catheter ablation, is a treatment that aims to control or correct certain types of abnormally fast heart rhythms.
An abnormal heart rhythm is known as an arrhythmia.
An ablation is done using the same technique as an electrophysiology (EP) study and is often carried out at the same time. The EP study can discover if you have extra electrical pathways in your heart that could be causing your abnormally fast heart rhythm.
