A NEW GP-led service which offers heart checks to all patients in Hailsham and Herstmonceux was launched on Friday.
The Hailsham Community Cardiology Service will be run from Seaforth Farm Surgery in Vicarage Lane but is available to all patients registered at surgeries in the area. It has been set up by Seaforth Farm GP Matt Jackson, in collaboration with cardiologists at Eastbourne’s District General Hospital (DGH), the Sussex Heart Network, the local Primary Care Trust and CVS Health, a local firm specialising in cardiac diagnostics.
The service was officially launched at Seaforth Farm by Hailsham MP Charles Hendry. Elizabeth Post, 80, from Dacre Road, Herstmonceux, was the first patient to benefit.
Dr Jackson said the new service would help reduce the number of trips Hailsham residents have to make to the DGH for heart checks. He said, “The cardiology service is all about delivering high-quality health services to the people of Hailsham and surrounding villages where they most need them – locally. “We will provide a range of tests, which in many cases will remove the need for patients to travel to Eastbourne.
